Why I'm excited for Anaheim
Hello, Key Clubbers! It’s me, Paco the Penguin. You might recognize me from my awesome selfies on Key Club’s official Instagram account. (Remember that time I got my copy of the September Key Club magazine? Or when I dressed up as a dust bunny to raise money for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF?)
I’m super excited about this summer’s Key Club International convention! Last year, I had a fantastic time with all of you in the United States’ capital, Washington, D.C. Now we’re trading DC for the OC and traveling to the opposite coast, because the convention’s in Anaheim, California, this July.
What’s the first thing you think of when you hear our host city’s name? The first thing that pops into my mind is Disneyland! Not only is there the main theme park, but there’s also the Downtown Disney District and California Adventure Park. You could say I’m a big Disney fan, especially after the studio featured some of my penguin friends in “Mary Poppins.”
But there’s a lot more to the convention host city than Disney. Take a trip to the beach. Have a blast riding nearby Knott’s Berry Farm’s roller coasters and water-park rides. (I do love splashing and swimming!) Or head over to Center Street in the heart of downtown Anaheim, to eat, shop and ice skate at the rink where the Anaheim Ducks train. I wonder if they’d let me play too.
