  • The value of a video

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what’s the value of a two-minute video? Quite high if it’s a video capturing Kiwanians working on a One Day project or announcing the details of the Eliminate Project. Kiwanis videos are available for download. Use them to educate yourself or inspire others at a club meeting or link to them from your club or district site. Follow instructions in this how-to guide to download, access or request a copy of the Kiwanis videos. Check out our most popular downloads.

  • Friend a Gorilla

Key Club members raised $13,769 for Friend a Gorilla during the charity walk at the 2010 Key Club International Convention.Key Clubbers who attended the 2010 Key Club International Convention and participated in the July 10 charity walk raised $13,769 for Friend a Gorilla, a Uganda Wildlife Authority initiative that educates the world about Uganda’s endangered mountain gorillas. There are only 721 left in the world.

Between now and the end of the 2010–11 school year, you can work on a Friend a Gorilla community outreach program, designed specifically for Key Club. Educate elementary school students about the importance of wildlife conservation and fundraise for the cause. All proceeds will go toward the preservation of mountain gorillas. Visit www.kcgorillas.com to learn more about how you can help.

Friend a Gorilla materialsIf Key Club raises at least $250,000, the club that raises the most money will get to send an advisor and two students on a safari to see mountain gorillas in the Ugandan jungle.

If Key Club raises $500,000, we’ll have the opportunity to name a baby gorilla and watch as he or she grows.

Clubs that raise $2,500 or more will receive badges.

Check out the website www.kcgorillas.com to find out more about Friend a Gorilla. You also can download lesson plans and watch educational videos.
