You may know about Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. But October isn’t the only time of year to support our preferred charity, UNICEF USA. Take a look at another upcoming opportunity!

Our May campaign, United by UNICEF, specifically supports our collaborative initiative, Start Strong: Zambia, which is dedicated to providing children in that country with the resources they need for early childhood development. All funds donated to UNICEF through Start Strong: Zambia directly support the construction of community learning centers called “insakas.” These insakas are community spaces where children come to learn, play and grow during their most important developmental years.

Because of your fundraising efforts for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, we raised over US$92,000 for Start Strong: Zambia! We want to build on this amazing accomplishment and raise $8,000 more to reach our $100,000 fundraising goal for the year.

If you are interested in learning more about our partnership with UNICEF or about Start Strong: Zambia, check out our Start Strong: Zambia page on the Key Club International website. To support this initiative, donate through this link. When entering your donation information, make sure to note that it supports Start Strong: Zambia and that you would like to add your donation to our fundraising totals.

How can Key Clubs get involved?

Key Clubbers can help in three ways:

  • Participate in the United by UNICEF social media challenge. Repost @keyclub.iboard’s post on your Instagram story explaining how to get involved. Make sure to tag three other accounts — they will have 48 hours to repost and tag others.
  • Raise funds for Start Strong: Zambia. Key Clubs can host events or activities that include:
  • Pie or shaving cream in the face
  • Graduation grams or hug + kiss a senior
  • Color runs
  • Easter egg hunts
  • Spring photo booths
  • Bouquet and flower sales

Raise awareness for the campaign’s mission. Let people know by:

  • Sharing this blog post and other Start Strong: Zambia resources with Key Club members.
  • Informing others about how Start Strong: Zambia helps kids and how to get involved.
  • Hosting events to spread Start Strong: Zambia’s mission.

Whatever your Key Club do, every action helps support communities in Zambia. This May, let’s show how service and unity can truly create meaningful change around the world!
