Hey, Key Club!

It’s almost May, meaning it’s almost time to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month through Erika’s Lighthouse’s annual Positivity Pledge. I wanted to share how I participated last year.

After serving my term as a lieutenant governor for the Michigan District, I wanted to find ways to continue to be involved with Key Club’s partners. At the same time, luckily, I also was in control of an online mental health campaign called UThere? that I cofounded with my friend. We both shared an interest in mental health, but we did not know how to best emphasize the importance of mental health awareness.

In search of activities to do during Mental Health Awareness Month in May, I came across the Erika’s Lighthouse Positivity Pledge. I had heard about it through other lieutenant governors from the Michigan District, and since participation was free, I decided to give it a chance.

I thought it would be great to raise awareness through the pledge’s daily activities, so I started to post every day, and even participated in the activities myself. I really enjoyed the pledge and became more mindful of my mental health along the way.

A student from my school said that our daily posts motivated them to participate in the pledge and brightened their day. It really warmed my heart how our actions can impact people around us, even from just one post.

Now, I encourage all of you to do the same!

From April 30 through May 31, take part in the Positivity Pledge through its daily activities focusing on self-care, reflection and more. Encourage your friends and fellow Key Club members to participate.

Take charge and share your journey on your social media pages! Use hashtags #PositivityPledge #ErikasLighthouse and #KeyClub. More information on the pledge can be found at positivitypledge.erikaslighthouse.org/.

We can’t wait to see your participation in May!
