Why did you join Key Club?
The summer before my freshman year, my older brother took me to our division’s annual Mad Hatter Tea Party. Because this organization has given me so much — so many friends, mentors, connections and opportunities to grow as a person. Key Club has been a defining part of my life, and I want to create the same meaningful experience for every member in this organization.

I like how involved we can be in planning and leading our service projects, training and other activities, no matter how “young” we are.
Why did you run for the international board?
Coming from Jamaica, it was a humbling opportunity to bring greater international representation to the Key Club International Board. I ran because Key Club has shaped me into the leader I am today, and as a trustee, I hope to give back by helping members around the world create the same meaningful experiences that shaped my journey.

When I was little, I wanted to be an astronaut. 🙂
Why did you join Key Club?
I first joined Key Club because a friend invited me to a meeting to make Meals on Wheels bags and volunteer at the Bingo event at our senior home, but I’ve continued to stay year after year after hearing the stories of people I’ve met along the way, being able to see firsthand the impact that my service makes in my community and beyond, and the amazing people that Key Club has brought me.
What do you like most about Key Club International?
I love our intense focus on community and diversity. Coming from Nebraska, it can be difficult for our club to find the level of diverse experiences and perspectives that an international level offers, and I’m excited to learn from everyone I meet!
Why did you run for the international board?
I decided to run after being on my district board for a year and seeing the impact that our previous board was able to make on a global scale. I loved getting to know Nebraska-Iowa on a personal level and meeting a wide array of rural and urban communities, but I wanted more exposure to the international side of things and Key Clubs around the world, and to work closely with our international partners. I truly believe that service is a way of life, and I wanted to give back to the organization that has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and made me who I am.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
Getting closer with the international board and building strong relationships with my governors and their districts. I’m so excited to explore new opportunities and gain insight on how different districts operate, attend district conventions and work on committees with my fellow trustees.
Past Key Club International leadership experience?
Lieutenant governor, Nebraska-Iowa District
What is your favorite Key Club memory and why?
Last year’s Nebraska-Iowa district convention! Seeing the culmination of all the work our board had put in during the past year, putting together super-fun and engaging workshops and meeting people from all around our district was an amazing experience. I met so many new friends there who were a great support system at the international convention, and seeing our district become an official sponsor of a Thirst Project well also was incredible to see!
