A birthday is about gratitude and giving, which also reflect what Key Club stands for. As we celebrate the 101st birthday of Key Club International, here are five meaningful ways your club can celebrate through service and fundraising:
- 101 Acts of Kindness challenge. Organize a club wide initiative to complete 101 acts of kindness in one week. Members can write thank-you notes to teachers, donate books, clean up a local park or volunteer at a food pantry. Track your progress with a visual poster or social media countdown to build excitement.
- Birthday boxes for a cause. Create “birthday kits” for children in shelters or low-income communities. Include cake mix, candles, frosting, party hats and a small gift. Many children in transitional housing don’t get to celebrate their birthdays; this project brings joy while aligning with Key Club’s mission of service.
- $1 for 101 Years fundraiser. Encourage members, alumni, teachers, and families to donate US$1 (or more) in honor of 101 years of service. Set a goal tied to the number 101. For example, $101 raised for the Birthday Club campaign, supporting service projects in schools and communities. In addition to contributing to a worthy cause, clubs that donate $101 by May 31, 2026, will receive a banner patch. Promote the fundraiser in your schools with posters and morning announcements explaining Key Club’s impact.
- Birthday-themed service social. Host a “birthday bash” in which members complete service activities together, making cards for hospitals, assembling care packages or decorating lunch bags for food banks. Celebrate with cupcakes afterward to recognize your members’ dedication.
- 101 Years of Impact campaign. On social media, highlight 101 facts about Key Club, your district, your division or your own Key Club’s accomplishments. Pair each fact with a call to action (e.g., donate, volunteer or attend the next club meeting).
Our 101st birthday is a reminder that service grows stronger each year because of dedicated members. Let’s celebrate with candles, compassion, creativity and community impact!
