Hello, Key Club members!

Happy New Year! I hope your service year has gone well so far. I know that we’ve just come out of a busy time — and there are many upcoming deadlines, including DCON registration, award applications, Key Club scholarships and more. Congratulations on making it this far! In this midyear review, I’ll offer some advice as a past club president and update you on the work of the Key Club International board.

About this time of year, we often see meeting attendance decline. As we get into the groove of the school year, Key Club can lose the initial spark it had for members — especially if you do the same thing at each meeting.

My advice: put together a plan for membership retention for 2024. Fortunately, Key Club International has a plethora of resources, including meeting kits, a Service Directory and much more! Use these resources to help mix up your meetings. Consider adding guest speakers, switching your agenda order or using in-meeting service projects to create new opportunities for engagement.

Membership growth and board updates
Club rush season may be over, but it’s never too late to grow your club’s membership! You can continue to add members to the Membership Update Center at any time, so consider implementing a membership campaign for the new year. I encourage you to try a variety of recruitment methods — from social media to invite cards and bring-a-friend programs. In fact, visit Key Club’s marketing page for resources. You’ll find recruitment videos, club invites, flyer and more.

After all, Key Club’s 100th anniversary is coming up in 2025. There will never be a better time to join Key Club!

Finally, I want to provide some updates about your Key Club International board. This service year, we have been focusing on improving the efficiency and output of our international committees, including our new Membership Development and Growth Committee and International Conference Committee. We are also pleased to have just selected members for our six new taskforces and committee member representative opportunities from over 233 applications. We encourage you to learn more about our committee work and upcoming projects by following the international board @keyclub.iboard on Instagram.

In the coming weeks, be on the lookout for new opportunities and information about the Key Club International convention.

In the meantime, I continue to be impressed by the dedication, leadership and service from our members across the globe! If you ever have any questions, ideas or concerns to share, never hesitate to contact me.
