In Kettering, Ohio, the Key Club partnership with Erika’s Lighthouse proved useful to members at The Dayton Regional Stem High School when they observed World Mental Health Day on October 10.
Key Club members invited fellow students to find their voice and get depression out of the dark. The students wrote their thoughts on construction paper of varying colors, which were later arranged into a mural of the lighthouse on the logo of Erika’s Lighthouse.
Erika’s Lighthouse is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and raising awareness about adolescent depression and encouraging good mental health by breaking down the stigma around mental health issues. The organization became a partner of Key Club earlier this year and offers awareness programs and resources for students and educators.
