Key Club questions
Why did you join Key Club: I joined Key Club to be part of an organization that was not only bigger than myself but also aligned completely with my values. Although the average Key Club member uses this club for a highlight on a college application, I used it to find my true passion and some of the best friends I have ever had. The service projects my club did were things I had never done before, so I branched out so much after being more secluded until 8th grade!
Past Key Club International leadership experience: Club director (2019-20), Buffalo Trace lieutenant governor (2019-20), Kiwanis Family Membership Committee member (2019-20), Indiana District governor (2020-21)
Why did you decide to run for the international board: Key Club is an absolute match for my personality, it aligns with the way I was brought up and it has shown me the type of person I wish to become. I wish to engage with this organization and share my ideas, skills and interest to benefit Key Club and its members alike. My governor experience last year provided a base for this role, and the trustee position can further stretch my abilities and problem-solving skills to think beyond and think big. I love this organization so much!
What are you most looking forward to this year: I am most looking forward to forming close ties with the governors I was paired with, as well as creating a lasting impact through international committee work.
What do you like most about Key Club International: I love the incredible opportunities to network, travel, experience unique leadership positions, attend conferences and build lasting friendships that no other organization provides.
What is your favorite Key Club memory and why: My favorite Key Club memory is from Indiana’s district convention in 2021. It was the night before retirement after a long day of convention work and administration, and award night began. Each person or adult on the board was awarded an extremely specific superlative, and the entire board just cackled and giggled the entire time. Actually, we ordered almost US$300 worth of cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory that ended up getting lost in the process, so we had to wait an extra few hours late at night to get our cheesecake. This night was such a sweet ending to our extremely difficult COVID terms, and I’ll forever cherish it.
