Giving children supplies they need to start off right.
Before members headed back to their own classrooms, they first made sure the community’s younger students had what they needed to succeed during the school year.
What was done:
One mid-August day, they gathered outside a Walmart store, collecting donations of cash and school supplies for children who would otherwise be unprepared. They used any donated funds to buy additional essential school items and, the next day, met to fill backpacks. Say Key Club member Megan Norton, “We call it Fill a Backpack, Make a Smile.”
