Each year, Key Clubs across the globe bring powerful service ideas to life with support from the Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF). Here are just a few inspiring projects funded by YOF grants:
📦 Mobile Food Pantry
Club: Borah High School Key Club, Utah-Idaho District
Grant amount: US$400
Project summary: This ongoing initiative provides fresh produce, dairy and nonperishable food to students and families in need. Key Club members organize food drives and distribute donations in the school parking lot.
YOF impact: The grant expanded food distribution and provided volunteers with supplies like hand warmers.
🛏️ “Key to Sweet Dreams” Bedtime Kits
Club: Boyd County High School Key Club, Kentucky-Tennessee District
Grant amount: US$2,000
Project summary: Members created over 200 bedtime kits for children without beds. Kits included new bedding, books, a nightlight, stuffed animal, alarm clock and hygiene items. The club partnered with Ashland Build-A-Bed, a local nonprofit to build beds for children ages 2–18.
YOF impact: The grant helped increase the number and quality of kits distributed to families in need.
🎉 Rally with Lally
Club: Cypress Creek High School Key Club, Texas-Oklahoma District
Grant amount: US$2,000
Project summary: This annual charity event features games, food and fundraising for the school. Past donations supported organizations that provide school supplies.
YOF impact: The grant helped promote the event to a larger audience, boosting attendance and impact.
🎓Thrive for Education Project
Club: Fort Lee High School Key Club, New Jersey District
Grant amount: US$2,000
Project summary: The club hosted a book drive, academic workshops and a fundraiser to support students facing financial hardship.
YOF impact: The grant enabled multiple initiatives and helped promote the project to reach more students.
✉️ Pen Pal Christmas Party
Club: Jackson County High School Key Club, Georgia District
Grant amount: US$919.12
Project summary: Members exchanged letters with over 90 elementary students to encourage literacy and positive choices. A holiday party brought pen pals together in person.
YOF impact: The grant funded transportation and supplies.
🦃 Thanksgiving Dinner Basket Project
Club: Thomas Stone High School Key Club, Capital District
Grant amount: US$1,300
Project summary: The club provided Thanksgiving meals to families in financial need, including cooked meals for those without kitchen access.
YOF impact: The grant allowed the club to serve more families during the holiday break.
🌱 Firebird Garden
Club: BASIS Phoenix Key Club, Southwest District
Grant amount: US$1,250
Project summary: Members built raised garden beds for seasonal plants and classroom use. The garden offers a space for class labs and relaxation, ultimately improving mental and physical health.
